Pointers for the Video Resume

Do not worry, it is quite painless...

The Video Resume will only last for 1 – 2 minutes.  It is only a tool to introduce yourself to the prospective employer.  To prepare, all you have to do is be yourself and take note of the guideline/script below.

Guideline & Pointers:

There is a set format we like to follow for these Video Resumes.  A basic format with a “fill in the blanks” style will help you get a feel for the process.  There are 3 sections to the video and we pause in between each (2 or 3 pauses in section 2).  The pauses give you time to regroup and refresh what you plan to say.

-          Section 1)
"Hello, my name is ___________________.  I am seeking a position as (or in a home setting) ___________________."

-         Section 2)
"
My career experience includes or spans over X years in the X industry.  (possible pause if needed) For the past
X  years I was a X and my primary duties were X, X X and X. " (or my strengths are, or my background is in, etc.)

-         Section 3)
"Thank you for taking the time to watch my video..."

That is all there is to it.  The script is not set in stone; you can change things around as you want.  These are just the points we want to get across to the client – name and background.  Please be prepared, take the time to write out what you want to say and commit it to memory (although not required).  By preparing, you can spend less time being nervous and more time being yourself.

For attire - business casual is fine.  Head and shoulders is all that is shown in the video.
